Varanasi: The 9th Institute Day of the Institute of Science, BHU was celebrated on Monday.
JS Yadav, Research Director at Indrashil University, Mehsana in Gujarat joined the event as chief guest and delivered a lecture on ‘Chemistry for Sustainable Development.’ Yadav emphasised the need for sustainable development in science and technology.As an organic chemist, he highlighted his significant achievements in the sustainable and affordable synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Director of the Institute of Science and Rector of BHU, said, “Instead of celebrating any day as a ritual, we should make the best use of our time and contribute our best towards the progress and advancement of the institute and university.”
Outstanding employees from various departments and hostels of the institute were also recognised. Winners of various competitions (quiz, writing, and poster competitions) held for students over the past two weeks were awarded on this occasion. Teaching and non-teaching staff who won various sports competitions were awarded at an event held on the eve of Institute Day.
During the cultural program, students from the Faculty of Visual Arts mesmerised the audience with their dance and music performances.
